first encounter with the place

a walk towards the side streets of Fatih

not only us but also raskolnikov visits Fatih for the first time. every street is in its own obscurity, he finds thousands of possibilities in every street. countless masses of stuck form blind spots to think about or hide.

what will Raskolnikov do? could Fatih’s labyrinths swallow him? is there enough room to change and grow?

what is that noise?
did someone pass by?
where is Raskolnikov?

overlapping holes

here, the urban texture is reproduced in patches. the facades that seem to be fused and intertwined on the outside contain different and independent lives inside, just like where the usurer lives. if that apartment was in Fatih, maybe it would look like this.

WHERE?

the place of their dreams

like us, everyone in Fatih has different dreams about where they live. they dream a space to breathe, parks. they dream play grounds for their kids. but some also want the parks to be removed so that the cars can pass. while others are happy with the situation, they do not want intervention.

so, what is the solution? what would this place of indecision be like?

if the environment is destined to change as people change, does it make sense to produce spaces that stand still?

if the architect wants to build dreams, must allow the contributions of the participants and their transformation of the space. perhaps this architecture should be an unfinished and never-ending architecture.

a place to change
